
Wellness is such a new word in our vocabulary. It feels like it was dusted off a few years ago and is having its moment in the sunshine. But what actually is Wellness? Why does it matter? and whats the point in a wellness studio?

The quality or state of being in good health, especially as an actively sought goal. Lifestyles that promote wellness.
Our approach to wellness is simple, we are here to promote any type of activity, action, course, class or simple interaction that results in an improvement to your health and wellbeing. This ranges from a more structured Pilates class where the physical benefits are tangible, to a simple coffee morning or social group where the boost in wellbeing comes through simple human interaction, connection or community. Wellness comes in all shapes and sizes and does not need to be complex or expensive, our job at the studio is to provide those stages or opportunities for anyone and everyone to find what works for them.
Our aim is to build a studio community, a safe space where you are not anonymous, where you feel part of something. The studio represents an escape from the hustle and hassle of the day to day, a chance to 100% focus on you, even if only for an hour, a chance to step out of the chaos and demands of real life to relax in whatever is your shape of calm.
The number Eight in our brand name is important in this context and represents a couple of things relating to wellness and our reason for being.

Eight is an important number in many cultures and is seen to be somewhat symbolic in that it also represents the limitless, the infinite, eternity. Yoga is structured around eight limbs, each one playing a vital role in the steps towards divinity. Samadhi, the Eighth limb, translates to 'bliss' or 'enlightenment'. It is basically the goal of yoga, and also is referred to as nirvana in Buddhism.
We can also use the number Eight to summarise the many pillars of wellness. Our studio aims to provide a holistic approach, and in doing so we plan to cover all Eight pillars in one way or another. Attention must be given to all of the dimensions, as neglect of any one over time will adversely affect the others, and ultimately one’s health, well-being, and quality of life. There is not a need to balance these pillars perfectly, but to increase our awareness only assists in us making steps towards making improvement.
The Pillars of Wellbeing Include Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Intellectual, Social, Vocational, Financial and Environmental. Look out for classes, workshops, seminars and social content bringing these pillars to life. Put yourself at the centre and come be part of our new community.
